The Raven is the perfect blend of optimal weight efficiency and maximum downhill performance. With the Raven’s smooth rocker profile your tips naturally rise to the surface of the snow, making breaking trail on the skin track and shredding fresh powder easier than you thought possible. When you find yourself in firm or variable snow the ski’s sidecut geometry works in conjunction with the rocker shape to ensure maximum stability and confidence.

The 4-LOCK™ System works by inserting the self-locking skin strap through an inconspicuous hole in the tail, locking to the ski and eliminating frustrating gear failure forever.

The Pomoca skin weighs in at less than 240g per skin and folds up impossibly compact, saving you more weight on your feet and more space in your pack than any other set up on the market. It's simply the lightest, most reliable, and easiest to use skin system to date.

Perfect Backcountry Ski

On my first foray into A/T gear, the guy at the shop steered me toward narrower, shorter skis that were extremely lightweight. With this setup I was always the first to the top, and was always waiting for people to catch up. But the downhill left much to be desired. I needed something a little beefier to be able to handle the variable conditions frequently encountered in the Sierras. The 4FRNT Raven 4-LOCK answers the call. I'm 5'9' and about 175 lbs. I went with the 184 length. With this much larger, stiffer ski, I'm still cranking on the uphill, but I now have a lot more confidence slashing through crud, chop, and wind-board on the way down. And on those days when the conditions line up and the powder gods smile on me, the Raven offers much better float with its bigger underfoot width and its slight rocker. I was a little worried about the way the skins fasten to the rear of the ski - through a hole, rather than clipping onto the tails. But after using this setup several times on a variety of snow conditions, I think shortening the skins a little bit was a brilliant idea. It saves weight and space in your pack, without sacrificing and traction on the ascent. I'm stoked about this ski/skin setup and can't wait for my next adventure with them.

Everything I hoped they would be

These skis are remarkably versatile and really just a ton of fun to ski on. Float is impressive, especially considering their width, particularly with the relatively narrow tips compared to other skis with a similar waist. The 4lock system is brilliant. In 15 years of backcountry skiing, I’ve never had skins stay put so well. I’m not entirely convinced I like the recommended mount point and am considering remounting at -1.5, as I feel like I struggle a bit to get the tails to release in heavy snow. Historically I have been a directional skier, so take that for what it’s worth. Overall, I am very happy with these skis, as is apparent from the huge grin I have on my face every day I am on them.

Always bring your... Ravens?

This is my second season skiing these bad larrys. Love them - last season was high and dry in the Tetons and yet I didn't stop skiing them! From hop turns in wind blasted couloirs to recycled powder during our 2 month drought, these skis performed. This season we've been fortunate enough to have more 'hero pow' and man it's like I have a whole new ski. The ravens love big long turns in powder but are nimble in trees. I just wish the bindings I mounted to them would stop breaking... oh well!

Great backcountry ski!

I am 46 5'8" 170 advanced not expert live in SW CO. Bought these to upgrade touring set up based largely on my positive experiences with the devestator and the similar rocker technology. Really pleased with this ski. Uphill it glides and tours really well, and both the included pocoma skins together weight less than a single BD ascension for my older icelantic vanguard 107s of the same length. My favorite thing about this ski is how easy it is to initiate turns in heavy, settled backcountry snow. The rockering makes to float more than one might expect for its width and not having a big shovel. First day out skiing settled week old , wind drifted powder was a blast. THe 4lock system is great, and really easy to pull skins, even with them still attached to boots. Cons: days 2-3 with this ski I skied a very warm atmospheric river storm which unusually thick and heavy snow and got snow and ice sticking to the base of the ski - had to stop a couple times to scrape. Gave it a quick wax and it got colder - no issues since. Touring in a resort area it is definitely possible to carve these, but much more difficult than the Dev or MSP - if you are looking for 1 ski for resort and bc, im not sure this is the best choice. The pocoma skins glide great and pack down to nothing, but they definteily dont have as much traction on sunbaked uphill as a nylon skin like the BD ascension. If these are your first touring ski, you might prefer nylon skins or take a day out with someone who can help you get your uphill form really solid so you dont slide back on a steep uptrack. Overall a great, fun dedicated BC ski and im excited to ski these for many more seasons.

Best backcountry skis I’ve owned

These rip! Light on the uphill, killer on the down. Have been awesome so far in the Colorado backcountry. And the 4-Lock system is genius, will never go back to regular skins with tail clips again!
