Huge congratulations to Alex Ferreira
2018 Winter Olympics Superpipe Silver Medalist and FIS World Champion
Alex Ferreira | 2018 Olympic Silver Medalist
This epic journey for Alex and 4FRNT started only a few months ago when we received a message from Alex asking specifically to use our WISE skis for some upcoming competitions, explaining his big hopes of qualifying for the Olympics after winning in NZ. Hearing his enthusiastic determination and seeing his wizardry in the pipe we were more than stoked to aid in his pursuits and quickly became believers!
Alex quickly took our skis to the top step of the podium at the Dew Tour and became the leader in FIS points.

"Alex Ferreira took the pipe circuit by storm this year on WISE 177's, a ski he got turned onto from his former 4FRNT team mate, David Wise. Alex personally wrote to me, and seeing his determination, I felt compelled to accommodate his request and honestly left it widely at that. If he wanted to win as bad has he did, I knew he'd need these skis, I couldn't help but say yeah! We shipped him skis, played phone tag a bit during Thanksgiving and stayed in touch over social media. Now he's taken 4FRNT at one of the biggest events in our sport, to the podium! Its cool to see the evolution, determination in our sports rising stars, and also to embrace the change." - Matt Sterbenz
On March 22, Alex Ferriera became the 2018 FIS Mens Pipe World Champion. The Crystal Globe compliments his 2018 season results of winning Gold medals at the FIS NZ Winter Games and Dew Tour, followed up with Silver medals at the Winter Olympics, Xgames and the Aspen Snowmass, Mammoth and Tignes FIS World Cups.
The wise ski was created in partnership between skier David Wise and Founder Matt Sterbenz. They were built by hand by teammate Thayne Rich at our Whiteroom facility in Salt Lake City, UT.
We are committed to making skis by skiers for skiers.
Congratulations to Alex!
